(365) WEEK FOUR

WEEK FOUR:

September 7, 2009
Someone took a walk outside without her shoes on. Her dark, dirty feet didn't seem to bother her too much though.
September 8, 2009
One of the USU tunnels from a parking lot to the University. I think this shot kind of has a "Tron," feel to it.

September 9, 2009

For over a year I searched high and low for the right sticker/decal to become part of my scooter. This summer I finally found the one. It was a beautiful day. Beautiful.

September 10, 2009
My good friend Bryan needed some headshots to go with an assignment, so upon his inquiring, I gladly helped out. What a great guy huh? Look at that smile.

September 11, 2009
After Hallie went to work on Friday, Cambria and I went to the park. Not the most interesting shot, but hey, it got the job done on a busy Friday.September 12, 2009
Early Saturday morning I had the chance to take some engagement shots for Abby and Heath and we couldn't have had better lighting and locations for the pictures. A great morning of shooting-minus losing the car keys momentarily in a ginormous field. Somehow Hallie found them. Good job sweetie.
September 13, 2009
I took this shot because for the next couple days I won't be doing much sleeping. At 3 a.m. Monday morning I have to get up and get myself to the sculpture lab to finish a project due by noon tomorrow. Then I have another assignment due on Tuesday. I love it when people say that art classes would be soo easy. I'd like to see them stay up all night in the photo lab or sculpture lab.

Kathy & Darrin

On Saturday, I had the pleasure of shooting engagements for a good friend and her fiance. It was so much fun and I really loved how many of the pictures came out. Thanks for the great shoot K&D!

Here's a few of my favorites:

(365) WEEK THREE

WEEK THREE:

August 31, 2009

After spending several hours in the sculpture lab, I realized that I needed a picture for the day. Instead of going out and finding one, and getting home even later than I was already going to, I decided to find something inside the lab. For this shot I wanted to find something ordinary and try to make it more interesting and for me, that usually means lighting and depth of field. I really like the simplicity of this shot and the detail vs. lack thereof.

September 1, 2009
Bath time. I'm not a huge fan of bath photos, but got the camera out for the heck of it and Cambria really hammed it up.

September 2, 2009
I realized this week that many of my pictures for the year will probably end up being on Utah State's campus due to my demanding class schedule. I set my glasses down to do something and noticed the reflection in them and loved it. Photographically there's two things I love-reflections and depth of field shots. Be ready for more reflections.

September 3, 2009
You guessed it-outside the Fine Arts Building. This shot was a no-brainer. I mean, come on, writing "punk rock," in wet cement? Awesome.

September 4, 2009
Close call.
I love lighting and the way light and dark interact with one another.

September 5, 2009
A favorite from some engagements I shot yesterday. More to come in a later post...

September 6, 2009
Hallie's birthday! Some family and friends gathered to surprise Hallie. Good times.

(365) WEEK TWO

As I had imagined, with school starting this last week, it was much harder to dedicate the time I would like to my daily photo.

WEEK TWO:
August 24, 2009
First day of classes for degree #2. Rainy and overcast. Hopefully it wasn't an omen.

August 25, 2009
Huge, beautiful wall of thick vines I've been wanting to capture.

August 26, 2009
Macey's set the world record for the most bananas in a store apparently-or at least that's how they advertised it. Over 66,000 lbs of bananas in this display. I couldn't resist. It was a sight to see.

August 27, 2009
I wanted to try a multiple exposure night shot of the temple. This is three shots at different exposures. I was trying to pull out different details from the scene. I think I still have some fine-tuning to do with this technique.

August 28, 2009
The day before my half marathon. I had some special athletic tape that I wanted to try out for the big event. To avoid the pain of ripping all my hair off and to ensure it would actually stick to my shins and knees, I buzzed my legs. The shaving creme can is a bit deceiving since I didn't actually shave them; I mostly have it there as a symbol of hairless-ness. If you ask me, I think my legs look pretty good.

August 29, 2009
Race day. Post run, we "experienced the thrill," at Golden Corral. After 13.1 miles I didn't eat nearly as much as I might have otherwise, but it still hit the spot just right. And I mean, come one, who wouldn't want to eat at a place with an awesome sign like this? I don't know who's in charge of their advertising, but give that guy a raise.

August 30, 2009
This summer we decided we wanted to grow some peppers and some tomatoes. Here is a "J" pepper. Pretty sweet.

(365) Days of Photography

Starting August 17th, I began a 365 day-long journey. Each and every day for one year, I will take one picture in hopes of trying new things, becoming better and all those good things. I hope, in a way, that it will be something of a photographic journal. I've wanted to do this for quite some time and finally decided that if I don't do it now, it will only remain an idea, a thought, a hopeless goal. I would love to hear your thoughts, suggestions, ideas for other shots-anything!

And...we begin. I give you WEEK ONE:

August 17, 2009
I turn 28.

August 18, 2009
Self-portrait with "Bones, Skulls & Beverages," drink helmet.

August 19, 2009
Grandma Sandy.

August 20, 2009
Logan, UT. LDS Tabernacle.

August 21, 2009
Dudes camping trip. Heber the Giant (no offense Heber).

August 22, 2009
Just eat it. Old Grist Mill lunch.

August 23, 2009
Wellsville train tracks.

Britney

These were shot back in 2006, but are still some of my favorite bridals to this day. Thanks Britney for being so darn photogenic!

The Great Outdoors

Every summer we go on a family camping trip with my wife's father and step-mother and I always hate to leave because we have so much fun and it is so beautiful. The place we go is generally called Joe's Valley and it is spectacular.

Jesse & Natalie

So here I am, still catching up on past work that I have done (and probably will be doing so for a while).

Jesse and Natalie's wedding was actually the first wedding I ever shot. Before shooting their wedding, I was skeptical about doing wedding photography, having mostly specialized in music photography. But thanks to them and their faith in me, I found out how much I would come to absolutely LOVE shooting weddings and being such an integral part of two people's special day.

Thank you Jesse and Natalie!
