WEEK NINETEEN:

Monday, December 21
We really wanted a Christmas tree this year (as every year), but knew Cambria would destroy it and anything we tried to decorate it with. In the end we still got one. To avoid having to constantly say "No," or "Don't touch," etc, we got a small tree, put it on our back patio and could view it through our sliding glass doors. It was very nice. Thanks Pam and Guy.
This is a shot of the tree lights (in case you were wondering).

Tuesday, December 22
This is a shot of Hallie's dads' train around his Christmas tree. Awesome. The train not only blows it's horn, but also puffs out smoke!

Wednesday, December 23
We went to A Candlelight Christmas at This is the Place Heritage Park and it was the perfect Christmas activity. If you were thinking about doing this, but didn't, you definitely should next year, it was so much fun, in spite of all the crazy snow.
Here is the monument (part of anyway) outside in front.

Thursday, December 24
For the past few years we have made a tradition of having a Christmas party on Christmas Eve at Hallie's dad and step mom's house with that part of our family and we look forward to it every year. At some point, we declare it Christmas and open all our gifts. This is my favorite shot of Cambria from the night. This gift was almost bigger than her, but she doesn't seem to mind much!

Friday, December 25
Christmas!
So how do you avoid a cliche Christmas picture on Christmas day? I'd already taken enough cliche Christmas images for the season by the time Christmas finally rolled around, so these decorations at my parents house caught my eye. I liked the way the sunny Christmas day silhouetted them. And yes, there is a Photoshop effect used in this photo.

Saturday, December 26
We stopped by our friends, Jeremy and Emily's, to see the new addition to their family, and them of course too. While we were there we wanted to snap a shot of Cambria and their daughter together, and wow, it sure was funny. In all the shots, either Cambria or Penny is crying and the other one is fine, except for the last shot where they were both hysterically balling. Why? We don't know, but it was pretty dang funny. This one was my favorite. Cambria looks so terrified and is in the beginning stages of crying and Penny is as calm and happy as can be.

Sunday, December 27
Wilkins Christmas portrait.
Since Cambria "came into the picture," we have started taking a family photo around Christmas with my parents. This is one of the shots we took. Probably not the one we would use for anything, but I like Cambria in this shot and how entertained she is by my mom's earring instead of the camera.

WEEK EIGHTEEN:

Monday, December 14
Hallie's been craft-crazy the last few months (I think it's awesome) and here is another example of what she's been up to:

Tuesday, December 15
Those who know me well know that that I have a fetish for belt buckles.
Anyone get what I'm referencing here? Jesse, I know you will. Dusty, if you're still out there, I know you would.

Wednesday, December 16
Old St. Nick payed Logan an early visit on Wednesday night...

Thursday, December 17
This little one finds a new way to crack me up everyday.

Friday, December 18
This is the view right outside our front window...well, up about 10 feet or so on the roof that is.

Saturday, December 19
Tyler.
If you don't know him, you should.

Sunday, December 20
Wellsville winter wonderland.

WEEK SEVENTEEN

Monday, December 7
When I first began to seriously get into photography, I almost strictly shot in black and white and since then, I've almost exclusively shot in color. Funny. Anyway, I think with it being snowy and cold out as of late, I've been in a monochromatic frame of mind and getting back to my roots.

Tuesday, December 8
Remember my found object sculpture from last week's photos? Well, here it is salvaged and in another more sensible, usable form. One of my friends in my sculpture class pointed out that my project would make an awesome clock and I agreed, so here is our new clock! I'm pretty stoked on it, except I wish the hands didn't blend into the background so easily. Maybe I'll swap them out for different hands someday soon.

Wednesday, December 9
Ever had a burger here? You should.

Thursday, December 10
Blake.
Taking this photo spontaneously turned into half a night of messing with lighting and multiple exposure shots and all just for fun. In the end I chose the shot that started it all. A great portrait. Nice hat, great expression, awesome sweater.
Thanks.

Friday, December 11
One tough cookie. While Hallie was at work, Cambria and I went out and ran a couple errands. In preparation for said errands, I was in charge of prepping Mrs. C for the bone-chilling Logan air we had earlier this week. She's a stylish chick with attitude, so I dressed her to fit her personality. I've never seen a kid that could simultaneously look tough and adorable, but then again, I guess I'm pretty biased.

Saturday, December 12
I randomly drove by this on Friday and knew it would be my photo for the next day. Originally, I wanted this to be an HDR image, but I'm still learning more about HDR and from what I've read so far, Photoshop isn't pick of the litter when it comes to creating HDR images, and I'm not about to buy a program right now just because I think it'd be fun to create HDR photos. At any rate, I slightly tweaked a few things to give it a look reminiscent of an HDR image (or at least the HDR images that I've seen and liked).

Sunday, December 13
We had a mild-to-medium snow storm last night and as I was looking out our sliding glass door on the back of our home, I became fixated on a grouping of branches. As I looked deeply into them, I thought of Jackson Pollock's "Lavender Mist." What do you think?

Abby & Heath Wedding!

So I've been slacking lately. I think all my final projects really bogged me down and I'm just now getting to some posting for Abby & Heath's wedding coming up on a month ago now.

Thanks so much you guys, it was a blast, complete with a dance-off!

First, there's a few shots that I added filters to that I think came out pretty cool:

WEEK SIXTEEN:

Monday, November 30
While my mustache was freezing as I waited for the bus on Monday, I happily noticed the patterns of the trees running up the side of the street to the side of me, as well as the spiderweb-like shadows accompanying them.

Tuesday, December 1
Ah, the UR Lab. My home away from home this last semester and for many more semesters to come.
I like this image because the letters have eerie streaks below them.

Wednesday, December 2
Found object sculpture.
This was my final project for my sculpture class this semester. We had to have 10 or more objects and they all had to be symbolic of the message we were trying to convey. I really liked how mine turned out and there were some other pretty awesome ones in my class too.
I could go into the meaning behind all the objects, down to the tiny, yet important details, but I'll let you think about the meaning.
Well, what do you think? I'd love to hear.

Thursday, December 3
Mmm...muddy buddies. Good to eat and good for a texture shot.

Friday, December 4
I've been driving by this sign for who knows how long and have always admired it. Maybe it's just because I'm a Pepsi man, but I think there's more to it than that. It was a perfect blue-sky day for the shot. The blue sky almost looks like a backdrop, but nope, it's for real.

Saturday, December 5
The annual Christmas sweater party. It was awesome (as usual). Lots of friends, lots of catching up to do, lots of food and drink and the newest thing: tons of kids all over the place!
Jesse and his friend, together known as Herod the Fink, performed traditional and original songs and it couldn't have gone any better. If you ever want to meet a modern-day Renaissance man, Jesse is it. I'd have to spend an hour or two just to possibly think of something he can't do and I'm pretty sure I'd still come up empty-handed.

Sunday, December 6
Home. After being away for the weekend it felt good to get back home, except for the fact that it was FREEZING in our place. After unloading the car the first thing I did was to get my sweats and slippers on and wait for our little home to heat up to a tolerable temperature!
